5th International Workshop on Geometric Patterns in Islamic Art

The Istanbul Design Center (IDC) is organizing the 'International Workshop on Geometric Patterns in Islamic Art' to address Islamic geometric patterns, which encompass a multitude of disciplines, at an international and professional level, and to ensure that the subject is examined and brought to the forefront by experts in the field.
A first in Türkiye, the IDC organized this workshop in 2013 under the theme "Historical Process and New Experiments" and was met with widespread interest. The second workshop was held in Istanbul and Konya in 2014, the third in Istanbul and Amasya in 2016, and the fourth in Istanbul and Edirne in 2018.
The fifth of our 'International Workshop on Geometric Patterns in Islamic Art' series will be held in Sivas this year, from 25 to 30 September 2025, under the theme “On the Trail of Anatolian Cultural Heritage”, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Divriği Great Mosque and Hospital’s inscription in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On Thursday, 25 September, 2025, the opening ceremony and presentations will be held at the Şems-i Sivasi Provincial Public Library in Sivas and will be open to the public.
Between 26 - 30 September, 2025 - The workshop programme will take place at the Sivas Cumhuriyet University, and participants will be selected from those who pre-register for the workshop.
Workshop languages are Turkish and English. Participants are required to have a good level of English language proficiency to participate in workshops led by native English-speaking lecturers / instructors.
The participation at the workshop program is free of charge, and a limited number of participants will be accepted. Once applications are received, we will review them, and successful candidates will be selectedommodati and notified.
The IDC will cover the accon, food and beverage expenses of international participants, and the transportation, accommodation, food and beverage expenses of domestic participants.
However, participants who cannot comply with the transportation, accommodation, food and beverage expenses specified by the IDC are responsible for covering these expenses themselves.
Participants are required to attend the entire program.
